CANDLES
John, an astronaut, is exploring the deep reaches of a new planet. Suddenly, he stumbles upon a dark cave. He takes out his flashlight, but it won’t turn on. John pulls out his walkie talkie radio thing.
John: “Guys, my flashlight isn’t working.”
Home Base: “Check out your backpack. We packed some candles in there.”
John takes off his backpack, and opens it up. As he pulls out a candle, his eyes widen. It’s like nothing he’s ever seen. The candle is soft, and gel-like, with beautiful colors, and a flower inside of it.
John: “Is this…an outer space candle? It’s…it’s..beautiful!”
Home Base: “What? No, it’s a gel candle. I think your wife got it from a party, actually.”
Suddenly, a giant gust of wind and space dust roars up, and knocks the candle out of John’s hands. John sighs.
John: “ I dropped it.”
Home Base: “There are a few more in there.”
John reaches back into his bag. He picks up several different candles. One is a mosaic of different colored wax cubes. Another has dried flowers and crystals sprinkled throughout the candle. The third one is carved to look like a photo-realistic flower.
John: “Wow, these are all amazing! Who knew candles could be so fascinating!”
Home Base: “You’re on a new planet, John, focus on that.”
John: “But guys, this candle, it’s shaped like a flower!”
Home Base: “I believe it’s floral-scented. Go ahead and smell it. It’s mission-critical.”
John picks up the floral candle. He looks at it for a second, then tries to put it up to his nose, but immediately hits his outer space helmet with a thud.
Home Base: *laughing* “Oh my goodness, he tried to smell it! With his helmet on! Are we recording this? I hope so!”
John laughs with a sigh, then heads into the cave, candle in hand.
