DUTCH MINI PANCAKES
Skipping down the cobblestone street with wooden clogs on her feet,
Stacey de Bakker carried a basket full of delicious treats!
A Dutch girl through and through, when it came to treats she knew exactly how to bake and present them, and everything else to do!
She collected sweets at the honeycomb.
Then through tulip fields she’d roamed.
Such good smells!
She couldn’t wait to get home!
What was this treat, so freshly baked?
The townsfolk cried they must have one for goodness sake!
It was something called Poffertjes! ..Huh??
AKA, Dutch Mini Pancakes! Oh!!
They’re small, puffy, and soft.
Their delicious scent does waft.
Topped with powdered sugar or butter or fruit
They’re tasty, European, and oh so cute!
It’s amazing what batter can become.
It’s even better when you share with someone!
So fill up your plate, take some home with you!
